About MeThis small stoneware bowl is glazed in an oatmeal slip under a mustard yellow glaze, which has been salt-glazed on the exterior, creating a tan speckled appearance. It is decorated around the outside with five applied roundels of clay, each incised with an abstract ellipse

Ray Finch was one of the UK's leading makers of tableware at the Winchcombe Pottery near Cheltenham, where he led a team of talented potters. He embedded his own work within the standard domestic ware made at the workshop and marked his work with a modified mark of WP (Winchcombe Pottery) followed by a small dot. Finch enjoyed making salt-glazed works when time allowed, however it was not produced in large quantities as salt-glazed wares were viewed as economically unviable.
