About MeBetween 1934-5 Cowie worked on the large oil painting, 'Two Schoolgirls', at Belshill and Aberdeen. For the composition he made numerous studies using a variety of media; pencil, pastel, crayon and chalk. Several drawings like this one concentrate on small details of the composition such as drapery and clothing and were drawn from life.
More About Me

One of the sketches for the artist's painting ("Two Schoolgirls", also in Aberdeen's collection), which shows the meticulous preparation and planning that went into Cowie's larger works.
