About MeFrederick Cotman was the nephew of the romantic landscape painter, John Sell Cotman (1782-1842). The younger Cotman painted mainly landscape and genre pictures.

This painting represents a Victorian sentimental vision of the countryside. A genteel lady is taking a stroll through the lush green landscape. Her pet dog has knocked over her basket of flowers and all is sunny and serene.
