About MeBernard Meninsky was a superb draughtsman and first found acclaim with his 1918 series of mother and child drawings. Aberdeen Art Gallery purchased this tender portrait, The Young Mother, at the time.

Meninsky's separation from the Jewish faith was confirmed by his first marriage to an Irish Catholic woman, the sitter in this drawing, who a few years later abandoned the family and died in France.

More About Me
Meninsky was born in the Ukraine, but came to Britain as a baby. He was renowned as a figure draughtsman.
