    About MeThis bottle was used to collect water samples from the sea from various depths. The temperature, salinity and chemical content of each sample was measured.

    The design was developed around 1910 by the Arctic explorer Fridtjof Nansen and the design is still in use.

    It consists of a water bottle and a pair of thermometers on a reversing frame.
