This dress was purchased from John Falconer and Company Limited and worn to a wedding in 1948. The ball gown style was particularly popular for bridesmaids and wedding dresses during the late 1940 and early 1950s. Lots of fabric was used to produce these gowns, which were a reaction to the rationing restrictions of the war years.
