About MeWilliam Brodie was a friend of John Phillip, who is known to have executed two portraits of Brodie. The other, dated 1859, was bequeathed by the sculptor to the Royal Scottish Academy. It has been suggested that Aberdeen's portrait shows a considerably younger man who is shown sculpting a miniature bust of a type in which Brodie specialised at the outset of his professional career as a sculptor.
