About MeBorn in London in 1889, Scottie Wilson became a self-taught artist in Canada. He returned to London in 1945, working alone on drawings using ink and crayons which he sold reluctantly. In the 1960s he was commissioned by Royal Worcester to design a set of dinnerware. His designs include repeating mythical creatures, buildings and geometric patterns and the tableware designs were not popular with the buying public and so production ceased in 1965. Wilson died in 1972.
More About Me
This was designed by a Scottish artist, but the pictures and patterns look as if they could be from another land or culture – what do you think of when you look closely at this plate?
