About MeThis copper alloy three legged ewer with a tubular spout was donated to Aberdeen Art Gallery and Museums in the 1990's. A similar vessel can be seen in use in the Luttrell Psalter, a illuminated manuscript from England, dating from the early 14th century. Another ewer was found in Balcombe, Sussex, containing a hoard of 754 coins ranging from Edward I to Richard II.
In Fortrose a hoard of 1100 Robert III coins of Scotland was found in a similar ewer. It was dated from the closing years of the 14th century. This would suggest a 14th or early 15th century date for this vessel.
