About MeThis sherd of pottery was found during an excavation at the site of the Carmelite friary in Aberdeen in 1980-1. It was made in France in the 13th or 14th century and is decorated with applied ribs and spots.

This sherd was probably part of a jug, which is the most common vessel type found in medieval contexts in Aberdeen. Jugs would have been used to take water and wine to the table and for washing hands.
