About MeIn later life Edgar Degas' eyesight deteriorated and he dealt with this by changing his painting style and by turning to sculpture which he could create, to some extent, through feel.

Degas exhibited only one piece of sculpture during his lifetime. He is thought to have begun making wax and clay models primarily as compositional aids to his painting and his subjects were those which dominated his painting and pastels - dancers, horses and women washing themselves.

Degas loved to depict the human body in movement, repeating poses time after time until he understood the function and appearance of every muscle and tendon.
