About MeWilliam McMillan made the bonze war memorial at Echt, Aberdeenshire. This small maquette or study is very similar in design and may have been made in preparation for the Echt commission. The maquette was presented by the Aberdeen Conservative Club in commemoration of the members and their relatives who fell in the Great War, 1914-1918.

McMillan also designed the recumbent lion for the Aberdeen war memorial, which was dedicated in 1925.
