About MeThis industrial vessel was used for mixing substances for an industrial process. It was made from local clay, by rolling the clay into slabs, cutting them to shape and joining the pieces.

There was an excrustation of residue inside the compartments of this vessel, which was analysed to determine what the vessel had been used for. The residue contained the pollen of various trees, grasses, tormentil and dock.

Tannin was found in one of the compartments, and it is possible that this vessel was used to mix various plants together for some industrial process, possibly tanning of animal skins for use as leather.
