About MeThis copper alloy object was found at the Carmelite friary, the Green, Aberdeen. It is a boss or mount - domed decorative objects which would have decorated caskets or the covers of books.
This is a diamond shaped boss, but they occur in many other shapes: others found in Carmelite friary excavations in Scotland include ones in the shape of a flower.
Holes indicate where copper alloy rivets have been used to attach the objects to the book or casket. Three books survive from the Aberdeen Carmelite library.
