About MeDuring the excavations at the site of the Carmelite friary in Aberdeen in 1980-1 and 1994 many copper alloy objects were found. These included this beautifully worked book fitting in the shape of a flower.
The fitting, in the shape of a flower with six petals, has a hole in the centre to take a rivet. It may have been fastened, to a leather book binding, although it could also have been a belt decoration.
