About MeEarthenware sauce boat. Decorated in 'Enchantment' pattern of decal applied white daisies and green leaves on a pearl grey glazed ground. This shape shows the new fashion for rimless dishes. Alfred Meakin was the brother of James and George Meakin who ran the successful J & G Meakin company. Like them, Alfred manufactured good quality, but ordinary, domestic tableware for the mass home market and for export.More About Me
The sauce boat is a good example of a domestic object which has made its way from court dining to the everyday table - much like this simple, yet effective design.
