About MeThese eight pieces were found in an oven and pit during an excavation on Shiprow in 1999.

They are all from cooking pots and jugs which had been imported into Aberdeen in the 12th century from south east Scotland, East Anglia and other parts of eastern England.

It is thought that the local pottery industry in Aberdeen did not start until sometime in the 13th century and so prior to that date pottery had to be imported from other parts of Scotland and England.
