About MeThese sherds of pottery were found at the site of the Carmelite friary in Aberdeen during excavations there in 1980-1. They have raised decoration in the form of animals, which was commonly found on medieval jugs made in Scarborough.
On the upper sherd, a horse's head can be seen whilst the bottom ones are probably horses tails. This decoration usually occurs on vessels called knight jugs which were decorated with knights on horseback 'parading' around the neck of the jug.
