About MeCircular wine coaster or decanter stand with raised straight sides and turned wooden base set with central silver disc. Applied reed border rim and the sides decorated with bright cut engraved floral garlands in swags which are punctuated by star shaped flowers with pierced centres.

Wine coasters or decanter stands became a regular part of the wine equipage from about 1760. This coincided with a change in the storage and bottling of wines. Most wine, including port, was decanted. From the shape and size of most Georgian wine coasters, including this example, it seems that they were intended for decanters and not bottles.
