About MeThis miniature mug has a tapering body with applied lobes and scroll handle following the thistle cup form which was unique to Scotland from the 1680s to 1710. It is very likely that the mug was a prized possession carried and used by its owner at sociable occasions.
More About Me
Most Scottish silver was made for practical use, but this thistle shape, common in the 17th century, is also highly decorative.
