About MeThe Ben Gulvain which was once one of Aberdeen's highest earning trawlers aground at Murcar, just North of Aberdeen. In January 1976 it was heading to the fishing grounds in the White Sea in a storm. When just out the port the engines broke down and like many vessels before was driven ashore on this stretch of coast. All the crew were eventually able to safely abandon ship when the storm abated. The vessel was scrapped in June that year.
Ben Gulvain was one of the 'Ben' fleet belonging to Richard Irvin.
