About MeBill Littlejohn studied at Gray's School of Art and worked there until his retirement in 1991.

Littlejohn's work is concerned with surface qualities, graphic detail, and colour, all of which are evident in this sensitive and engaging textile interpretation.

He has no concern with perspective or depth and his work is quite oriental in technique, flat and focusing on shape and outline. We see further East Asian influence with the lantern with Asian symbol and a bamboo constructed screen to the left.

The tapestry is one of a series woven in 1987 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Dovecot Studios, Edinburgh.
