About MeIn 1922 Hunter travelled to Italy, stopping on the way to visit Paris. Whilst there he saw an exhibition on the art of Henri Matisse. Later that year he went to Venice, where he produced a series of small works, capturing the Venetian light and revealing the influence of Matisse.

The light and brilliant colour range of this moonlit scene of Loch Lomond, together with the concentrated richness of effect, reveal the continental influences that Hunter had been exposed to two years earlier.
