About MeJoanna Constantinidis grew up in Sheffield and attended Sheffield College of Art. She was an innovative potter, discovering new technical methods as well as creating sensuous clay forms. She was awarded the Medal of Honour at the International Exhibition of Ceramic Art in 1978 in Italy, for her contributions to the field. This vase is dated to 1994, near the end of her career. The simple style and restrained use of glaze demonstrates her love of the material.
More About Me
Here the artist uses a combination of a not-quite-straight-line shape for her vase and a glaze which emphasises the texture of the clay to give the piece a kinetic feeling.
