About MeThe book contains more than fifty prints of birds and plants, designed by Maekawa Bunrei. The cover bears 'Bunrei-shohu' which means the book of Bunrei.
He was born in Kyoto and was trained by his father, Maekawa Goryo, who was also an artist. Bunrei was associated with the 'shijo' school which was established by Goshun in the late eighteenth century (Edo period).
Bunrei earned a good reputation for his flower and bird prints, or 'kacho-e'.
