About MeThe fitting of the stem of the femoral implant in hip replacement requires the surgeon to ream out the medulla. The surgeon starts with the smallest appropriate working up towards the final size. Final shaping is achieved using a hand rasp which is shaped like the prosthesis stem to be fitted. This ensures an accurate fit.
