About MeStopping out varnish is used to protect the back of the plate while it is in the acid bath and for painting over lines which have been sufficiently bitten.
More About Me
Stopping out varnish is applied to the back of pieces, so that when they are dipped in acid, the applied section will resist the etching effect and look elevated.
