William Cadenhead

Aberdeen, Scotland, 1819 - 1904
About MeWilliam Cadenhead was born in 1819 near Poyernook. he started working at a young age in a small thread factory owned by Johnny Garrow on Carmelite Street. Cadenhead left Aberdeen for a time to join Garrow when he moved his business to Liverpool. When he returned Cadenhead worked as an overseer in the yarn sorting department of Maberly & Co. at the Broadford Works. He left in around 1853 to work for his brother in law George Duncan's distillery, before eventually taking over the running of the business and renaming it after himself in 1858.

He is buried in Nellfield Cemetery.
