Michael Clark

Aberdeen, Scotland, born 1962
About MeMichael Clark rose to fame as the wild child of dance, breaking new ground with his inventive choreography, which was described as “a dialogue between rigour and mayhem”. Hailing from Aberdeen, Michael started Scottish dancing at the age of four, ultimately studying at London’s Royal Ballet School. He made his name as the punk perfectionist who pushed dance to its limits, collaborating with some of the most progressive talents of his generation, such as fashion designers BodyMap, performance artist Leigh Bowery and music groups Wire, Laibach and The Fall.

In 1984 he formed the Michael Clark Company which has toured the world performing across Europe, North America, Asia and Australia.
