Elizabeth Littlejohn Clark

1901 census - family have moved to 42 Salisbury Terrace. At this time Elizabeth is the second child of 5 - John, Elizabeth, Bella, William and Anne. John is a telegraph messenger, the other children except the youngest are at school.
Began General Training as a nurse in 1910, gaining registration (according to obituary - possibly refers to examinations) in 1913, and later completed midwifery and district training. Appointed to Queen Victoria's Institute of Nurses in 1916.
After 2 years working in a variety of situations, from slums in Musselburgh to the homes of titled gentry, Miss Clark married in 1919 (married name Darry) and later emigrated to New Zealand. She maintained her interest in nursing, faithfully attending Nurses Association meetings at Balclutha every month and volunteering over 60 hours at the local hospital during World War 2. Granted honorary membership of South Otago Branch of the Nurses Association, New Zealand c. 1960.
Died 21 May 1980.
