Richard Demarco

Edinburgh, Scotland, born 1930
About MeRichard Demarco is a prolific artist and promoter of the visual and performing arts. Demarco was a co-founder of the Traverse Theatre. After three years he left to open the Demarco Gallery which would prove to be instrumental in creating cultural links between Scotland and Europe, presenting artists such as Paul Neagu and Marina Abramović. Notable collaborations include Joseph Beuys and Tadeusz Kantor. Demarco has also been involved in Edinburgh Festival since its inception, mounting several art programmes for the official festival.

Although mostly recognised for his work as an arts promoter, Demarco continues to create paintings and prints– mostly landscapes and urban views exploring various regions of Scotland.
