DescriptionThis commemorates a Flesh Market which was established here in 1631. A Poultry Market and access lane joining Castle St with Queen St were laid out in 1809. In 1846 the Meal Market was moved from a nearby site to here. In recent times the site has been used variously as a Bleaching Green and an Artillery Drill Shed.
