HistoryGeneral Practitioner. Born in Aberdeen she studied at Aberdeen University and became the first woman president of the Student's Representative Council in 1923. She qualified as a General Practitioner, worked as a Justice of the Peace and was elected President of the Medical Women's Association and President of the Soroptimists of Great Britain and Ireland. Esslemont was made a CBE in 1955 and awarded the degree of LLD from Aberdeen University. She is also honoured as a Free Burgess of the City of Aberdeen.
