Don Street, Brig of Balgownie, Rose Cottage

E32
DescriptionGarden wall, two wells and remains of a cottage. Early maps show the cottage in existence by 1795. Two wells were discovered behind the garden wall of the former cottage during work to consolidate a garden wall. One blocked well chamber had a rough inscription 'WI 1856'. There was nothing to indicate that the wells were directly associate with Rose Cottage. It is suggested that the wells served the so-called Chapter House on the opposite side of Don Street, which may have once incorporated a laundry serving the Seaton Estate.
