About MeDark, bold and definitive lines are used to compose the contours of the figure in this striking piece of work. Thick 'sweeps' of the charcoal are introduced to create excellent tonal qualities on the back of the upper leg and bottom area of the figure. The constructive attention on the left leg is extremely prominent and executed beautifully.

The background, composed of a piece of furniture, is rendered in simple singular lines, less prominent so that the figure is emphasised.
