About MeThe interior of the Piper Alpha control room. Not a place built for comfort.
This is a photograph of some of the original crew taken in 1976 not long after the platform was positioned in the North Sea.

In 6th July 1988 Piper Alpha was completely destroyed by a series of hydrocarbon explosions. The first explosion destroyed the control room at 9.57pm. Some 167 men were killled in the disaster.
