About MeWhite fibreglass life raft cover (top) with 'Piper Alpha' and 'DUE 7/88' stencilled at both ends.

This life raft cover was dragged up in trawler nets 20 years after the disaster on the Piper Alpha platform in July 1988.

The skipper of the FV DELIVERANCE FR254 handed the raft cover in with the following account:
On Wednesday 10th December 2008, we were fishing at an area just east of the Piper Saltire field. We had been towing for 6 hours to the South West towards Piper Bravo and went to haul our nets at 1200hrs in position 58 27.875N, 000 21.244E approximately 3 miles due east of the platform. Once we got our catch aboard, we discovered a raft. On inspection of the raft we discovered a name and date which I assumed was associated to the Piper Alpha tragedy.
