About MeAnother Place is a work that celebrates a (non urban) way of life, one that takes notice of the constant movement of life: the sun reveals the clouds conceal, the push and pull of the tides, the advance and retreat of vegetation from Spring to Autumn, the path of the horned moon, through chalice, to full - a pattern of life that once sensed becomes hypnotic, almost addictive to those exposed. The final version of Another Place consists of seven filmed portraits, projected as a large scale image in a gallery space. Each of the portraits lasts for between two and three minutes and are looped and accompanied by a specially commissioned soundtrack by Ray Chaston that is suggestive of the constant, surging soundscape of winds and oceans, punctuated by birds and humans.
The video portraits, that may at first glance appear to be almost still, after which movement is perceived. The subjects though contemporary, seem somehow set apart - they have a knowingness, a confidence, a sense of contentment that comes, the artists believe, from the unique relationship that they each have with the environment they inhabit.
