About MeAnecdotes of William Hogarth
by
A Member of the Family

These reminiscences extend over a period
Of Fifty-five years from personal recollections
And are the result of measuring up
The current anecdotes of the Family
From the time when Mr Hogarth became
A member of it…
The vignette is a plate of his own en
Graving - and the Copper has been in my
Possession since the year 1806 and was never
Published…

PARTICULARS
OF
A HOUSE AND BUSINESS
NO. 5 TORRINGTON PLACE,
TORRINGTON SQUARE
LONDON.
The house has a frontage of 18 ft by 33 ft in depth, compris-
ing Ten Rooms and a Spacious Shop, with Vaults and Cellars,
Water-Closets, and appropriate Shop-Fixtures; it is a nearly New
Building (1830), and the Business of a fruiterer and GREEN_
Grocer, of the superior order, has been successfully carried on in it
Since the above date.

A Handsome First, Second, and Third Floor, constitute the
Arrangement of the Apartments specially adapted for Letting.

The Basement comprises Two Light Airy and Spacious Kitchens,
With Boarded Floors, and Broad Sunk Areas, both Front and Back
Beyond which there is a Garden 36 ft in length by 18 ft wide,
(which may be covered in at the option of the Purchaser) flanked by
A highly respectable open Mews, into which there is an Entrance
From the Back Wall of the Garden.

The situation for Business is undeniable, either as at present
Appropriated of for first-rate FISHMONGER, or a combination of the
Two, for which there is ample space in the shop, and no other
Business of either kind in the Neighbourhood, nor, from the peculiar
Position of the premises can there be, and a fishmonger is greatly
Needed by the great mass of resident Gentry around.
