About MeThis large bowl was made at Seaton Pottery, Aberdeen in 1890. Well-known throughout the North East of Scotland, Seaton pottery is most easily identified by its unique glazes and hand-rendered lettering and inscriptions. From 1868 to 1964, operating under three different sets of owners, this most northerly of industry potteries produced utilitarian and decorative wares mostly from a local clay source. Excavations of the Seaton Pottery site in 2002 and 2003 shed new light on the Pottery's wares and techniques, which has led to a better understanding of another important piece of local history.12th-early 20th Century
