James and Marguerite declined the invitation, and a handwritten note on the reverse reads;
"26 Nov. Mr and Mrs. James McBey thank Dr. and Mrs. Murray for the invitation to the wedding of Miss Margot, but regret they cannot accept, as it is doubtful if they will have returned to London by the 2nd December."
The invitation was originally kept within ABDAG008357.14, which is labelled "Margot Wedding."
This object is part of an archive that belonged to Marguerite McBey. As a result of her generosity, Aberdeen Art Gallery holds the largest archive of James McBey's work, including prints, drawings, sketchbooks, oil paintings and memorabilia such as this invitation.
