About MeThe Aberdeen artist was admitted to the Royal Scottish Academy in Edinburgh in 1891, and from there onwards went on to travel abroad through France, Spain and the north of Africa to develop his own unique and Post Impressionist style. After the success of his painting 'Fantasie en Folie' requests both for originals of his work and for permission to reproduce it came from all over the world: Germany, France, America and the Far East included. The artists suffered severe burns from a train crash and died in 1905, at the young age of 33.

The letter came from the Mayor of Venice, who also acted as the President of the Exhibition in question, and asked Robert Brough to send existing and create new paintings to send to a special exhibition in the Italian city. His work was bought by the city of Venice and is still in their collections.
