About MeJoan Eardley first encountered Catterline - the cliff-top fishing village south of Stonehaven - in 1950 and was so captured by the surrounding landscape that she immediately began working there, living between Glasgow and Catterline. The cliff-tops and shorelines became the principal subject of her work thereafter. When Eardley moved to Catterline on a permanent basis a couple of years later, she bought Sarah's Cottage but later moved to No.18 Catterline because she preferred a sea view. Sarah's Cottage was later sold to the artist James Morrison who was the previous owner of this picture.
More About Me
This cottage was Eardley's first home in Catterline, though she moved to get a sea view. The cottage later belonged to the artist James Morrison, previous owner of the painting.
