About MeThis dabware urn is decorated with female figures, foliage and lions.

Coloured glazes were dabbed on to the cream earthenware body using a cloth before a clear glaze was applied. This type of decoration is known as ‘dabware’.

Seaton Pottery operated from 1868 to 1964 and mostly used local clay from a seam in the North East coast of Scotland. They made utilitarian wares for cooking and some have the name of the foodstuff written on the exterior. They also made decorative wares that could be given as gifts for weddings and anniversaries.
