About MeThis stoneware medium-sized bowl is glazed in dark brown, blue and light brown slips beneath a salt glaze which gives it a distinctive texture similar to orange peel. The bowl is also decorated with a band of four figures that appear to be stylised swimmers. Casson and his wife Sheila established a pottery at Wobage Farm in Herefordshire in 1977. There he specialised in salt-glazed stoneware and blended his own slips (liquid clay) and glazes. When salt was introduced to the kiln at a high temperature the distinctive colours and textures for which Casson is known, were produced.
