About MeThe Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) was the last imperial dynasty of China, founded by the Manchus, who originally lived in the North East in a region later called Manchuria. Following the overthrow of the Ming Dynasty, there was a period of unrest, so that the Qing court could not obtain porcelain from the Imperial Kiln at Jingdezhen till around 1683. Père d’Entrecolles, a French Jesuit missionary, described the porcelain-making process in Jingdezhen in letters written between 1712 and 1722. From his writings we learn that division of labour was rather like a factory system with different workers specialising in throwing pots, mixing glazes, applying decoration and firing the kilns.
More About Me
The crackling is intentional and is due to the overlying glaze solidifying before the base does when a piece cools after firing
