About MePainted in 1861, on John Phillip's third visit to Spain, the artist has captured an intimate scene just inside a church. A bearded man cuts a dashing figure wearing a dark cape over a colourful 'jaqueta' with banded sleeves. As he dips his fingers in the holy water he takes his time to admire two women praying nearby.Sir Edward Coley Burne-Jones
