About MeThe token is oval in shape. On one side it bears two inscriptions while on the other the inner legend is replaced by a representation of the burning bush:
Side 1: Parish of Maryculter G.D. This do in Remembrance of Me;
Side 2: Nec Tamen Consumebatur

This is a smaller but much more sophisticated type than the earlier and cruder Maryculter token which also exists in the Aberdeen City Collection. Although it bears no date it carries the initials GD and can therefore be assigned to the ministry of The Rev. George Duncan 1876-1899.

The general decline in church membership in the late 20th century resulted in many parish amalgamations: in 1972 Maryculter was linked with adjacent Banchory-Devenick and in 1982 the local presbytery gave its approval to a union with nearby Cookney parish.
