About MeA rectangular token with cut corners. It is inscribed on both sides: Side 1:Union Free Church Aberdeen / Nec Tamen Consumebatur; Side 2: Luke XX.II.10 / This do in Remembrance of Me. Side 1 also bears a representation of the Burning Bush.

Union Free Church was formerly the Union Chapel of Ease. A Chapel of Ease was a church located more conveniently for some worshippers in an area than the nearest parish church. If attendances justified it, a chapel of ease might be upgraded to become the parish church of a new parish.

The Free Church was formed at the Disruption of 1843 when 123 ministers, led by Thomas Chalmers walked out of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in Edinburgh. Of Scotland's 1,200 ministers more than 450 joined the new church.
