About MeThe helmet is of 'Corinthian' type, which appears to have been the
most commonly-used type throughout the Greek world. Because of
their long period of use (7th-4th century BC) these helmets are
difficult to date but this example, being fairly tall and having
pronounced cheek-pieces, probably belongs to the first half of the
6th century (600-550BC).

It was probably acquired by the 4th Earl of Aberdeen (1784-1860) who travelled in Greece as a young man and was a notable collector and antiquary.

Presented by the Marquess of Aberdeen and Temair c.1945
